Celebrating the life of Dawayne Lamont Cunningham

The Chicago Diabetes Project is so grateful for the family of Dawayne Lamont Cunningham. Dawayne recently passed away and to honor him, his family asked for donations to benefit the CDP. We are truly honored and we will continue to keep Dawayne and his family in our thoughts.
His sister wrote a beautiful tribute:
From life’s first cry to his final breath, Dawayne Lamont Cunningham was a fighter. Dawayne taught each of his family members that no matter what life throws at you, perseverance was the key to beating all odds. Battling diabetes for most of his life was no different. Dawayne was always full of life and endlessly energetic. His smile was contagious and lit up every room he entered. And despite being born with a birth defect that gave him challenges throughout his life, he never pitied himself, rather he was even more motivated to pursue all of his interests and dreams. Dawayne was an exceptionally hardworking man with a generous heart that touched anyone who had the honor to know him. His smile will never fade. His laugh will never go unheard. His courage and determination to persevere despite the odds will always be remembered.
