Business Title
Amy Cogswell
Board Member/Patient
Amy is a business owner with type 1 diabetes. She was diagnosed in 1980 at age 9. In 2005 she applied to participate in the islet transplant study at UI health and was transplanted in May of 2006 and has been insulin free since.
Amy feels it is an honor to be on the board of the CDP and dedicates the time and effort to her mother who died of complications of type 1 diabetes in 2002 and to current and future generations of kids with diabetes.
“One of the most important things my mother taught me about having diabetes was to never stop learning. Research and clinical trials are an important part of that, and I hope my participation in clinical trials and work with the CDP will benefit not just myself but all people with diabetes”
